THE KING IS DEAD IRON CROWN

€19,999.00

A crown made from 1/10 inch 2,5 mm thick iron sheet metal.

All over hand push engraved with a slightly adapted pattern from Hokusais wood cutting “The great wave off Kanagawa”.

Except from the drill used to make the holes in the individual plates, no electrical or pneumatic tools were used to make this piece. The 8 individual plates have been riveted with 1/10 inch silver wire after bending into shape to fit the next piece.

It is wearable, not particularly comfortable but it won't hurt your head.

Heavy but more comfortable than one would think. It has an estimated gallery price of about 28.000,- Euros. Production took estimated 129 hours of work. (It was probably more). The wave form and the Hokusai pattern match up with the used iron which will rust over time. A closer look at the pictures reveal that the natural alteration process of the piece has not ended yet. However the crown has been flame blued to seal the non-engraved surface under a thin sheet of surface austentite to preserve the metal utilizing a hand torch.

The crown will eventually fall apart at some point in time but will endure the next few hundred years if treated right.

I am glad that it came out this way because it was uncertain to me until the end if it would look good, but I think it does and I hardly ever say that about my own work. The pictures are not photoshopped aside from cropping and slight brightness adjustments.

Resellers are welcome to get in touch with me as well as anybody who is interested in the piece and wants more media, pictures or videos and more information.
